Application for World Heritage

During the Congress Official Dinner the application of Elvas for World Heritage will be presented.

The application of the Bastion Fortifications of Elvas for UNESCO encompasses the Forte de Nossa Senhora da Graça [Fort of Our Lady of Grace], a masterpiece of European military architecture of the eighteenth-century, the Forte de Santa Luzia [Fort of Santa Luzia], of the seventeenth-century, the set of bastions of the city and the complementary buildings of the nineteenth-century.

 Amongst this wide complex of monuments, the majestic aqueduct of Amoreira, which construction started in 1529, stands out.
